Beauty is up to you.
Updated: Nov 19, 2020
We live in a society where we’re conditioned to believe that
physical beauty means life is so much better.
So, when we’re unhappy we often attribute it to how we look.
In order to be happy we then have to change our appearance.
The diet industry has made billions from this, cosmetic surgeons are raking it in.
But what we're seeing is, those that have changed aren’t any happier.
Of course this totally makes sense. When you're rejecting yourself it's a miserable way to live.
Skin, cheek bones, wrinkles, noses, lips, legs, thighs and waists are nouns.
They have no meaning until you give them one.
They don’t mean happy or sad or beautiful or ugly, if they did we'd all agree.
When you start judging your appearance by another person's measure,
self-loathing and self judgement pile up.
Losing weight here is virtually impossible, as self-care is way down the list.
What you don’t stop to consider, is what real beauty is.
That it’s actually more than skin deep.
Beauty is familiarity and kindness and laughter,
thoughtfulness, passion and drive.
It can be friendship and love and intelligence.
It can be just the look in your eye.
Beauty is the lens that you view the world, and it's entirely up to you.
Have you noticed when you get to know someone better,
their beauty grows each day?
Their physical appearance hasn’t changed at all.
It’s just that you’ve changed what you’re thinking.
When you want to lose weight forever,
start connecting with your own beauty.
When you love yourself fiercely, you always look better.
And of course you’ll start looking after you.
